What I Believe

The Scriptures

I believe the Holy Scriptures, written in the original languages, are without error, inspired by God, and can be relied upon for training in righteousness. The Old Testament and New Testament form the complete Bible, the written Word of God. 2Peter 1:19-21; 2Timothy 3:15-17 and 1Thessalonians 2:13.

The One True God

There is only one God: He is almighty, all-knowing, and eternal. He is the creator of all things. God exists as a Trinity: He is three distinct expressions of God, existing as One. We know God as the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit. The Word became known as the Son of God when He came into this world through Mary and was given the name Jesus. The Lord Jesus Christ is the Son of God. John 1:1-3; John 14:26 and Hebrews 1:1-3.

The Fall of Humanity

I believe Adam and Eve existed and were free of sin until Satan influenced them to sin against God. Adam’s sin brought corruption to humanity and the world. The evil we see today had its beginning in the Garden of Eden. But God, through Christ, opened the door for all who believe in Him to be free of sin and become children of God. 1Corinthians 15:45; Romans 5:12; Romans 8:18-19 and John 1:12-14.

Salvation

I believe that the only way to be freed from our corruption and depravity is to accept the gift that God offers all of humanity in the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross. If we accept His gift by faith, we will be freed from the consequences of our sin and will spend eternity with God. Isaiah 53:4-6; John 3:16-17; Acts 4:10-12 and Romans 10:9-13.

The Church; the Body of Christ

There are many Christian denominations, but there is only one Church. The Church is the Body of Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church. We are all united in Christ by the Holy Spirit. All those who have embraced Jesus as Lord and Savior by faith are united in Christ as His Body. Matthew 16:18; Ephesians 1:20-23 and 1Corinthians 12:12-14.

The Great Commission

I believe that God wants all of humanity to be part of His family. He has sacrificed Himself so that all who are willing can become followers of Christ and children of God. Jesus has tasked every believer to reach out and give the good news of what God has done. He wants all who are willing to become His disciples. Matthew 28:18-19
